Oxcombe Orchards, Lincolnshire Wolds

A contour-led orchard and agroforestry landscape integrating food production, biodiversity, and education within a working farm.

Key Features:

  • Contour-Based Agroforestry Orchard - Orchard design responding directly to landform and water movement.

  • Traditional Orchard System - Over 1,750 fruit trees planted within a semi-commercial framework.

  • Integrated Hedgerows - Hedgerows providing wind protection, habitat, and ecological connectivity.

  • Reinstated Ancient Waterways - Restoration of historic hydrological features across the site.

  • Educational Landscape - Spaces designed for learning, exploration, and interaction with the land.

This project was commissioned by a new-generation farmer rethinking the long-term strategy of a family farm and seeking closer integration between farming and nature.

A detailed technical analysis of the land informed the development of a full masterplan for an extensive, low-intervention orchard system. The design incorporates agroforestry, market gardens, and hedgerows within a working cattle farm.

The landscape supports food production while also creating opportunities for education, exploration, and public engagement, helping to diversify both farming practices and revenue streams.
