Wild Vineyards, East Sussex

A pilot vineyard exploring ecological wine production within a living High Weald landscape.

Key Features:

  • Strip Tilling - Maintaining meadow habitat beneath vines.

  • Chemical-Free Establishment - Supporting soil life and ecosystem health.

  • Local Chestnut Posts - Harvested from nearby coppice woodland.

  • Resilient Vine Varietals - Selected for low-intervention management.

  • On-Site Wine Production - Organic, biodynamic, and natural wine produced on the land.

  • Landscape Value Creation - Enhancing both ecological and monetary value of the site.

This project explores a new and ancient approach to growing and making wine in the UK, set within the High Weald.

The vineyard is designed to balance wine production with ecological integrity, integrating vines into an existing meadow landscape and minimising intervention. By using resilient varietals, chemical-free establishment, and locally sourced materials, the vineyard adds both ecological and economic value to the land.
