Hearth Farm Project, High Weald

We are working with forward thinking landowners on a journey to agroecology - exploring how to bring the worlds of farming and nature restoration together. This is a long term project for which we are thrilled to implementing, managing and pioneering this new way of land and farm management.

Key Features:

  • Unique and complete whole systems design and implementation plan, creating regenerative business plans for the commercial enterprises, and working with and finding key specialists to carry out works

  • 30 acres of Keyline Agroforestry Orchard systems

  • 35 acres of existing and new native woodland planting

  • 40 acres of Regenerative Viticulture

  • 25 acres to be returned to the wild, allowing natural process to unfold observing and managing.

  • Reintroduction of pigs to the woodlands

  • Removal of all internal fencing and new rides across the land

  • Hedge laying and restarting old coppice systems

  • Water cycle management and creating leaky dams through woodland streams

  • Increasing carbon in soil

  • Conversion to sylvopasture systems

  • Wild beehives throughout

  • Natural and considered deer management

Covering 113 acres in the ancient landscape of the High Weald AONB, this farm was originally a patchwork of nearly a 1000 acres of land where the old ways of mixed farming still exist to this day. We set out to firstly create a farm masterplan of how to move forward with resilience and longevity in mind, creating a whole systems design.

We are now implementing the first stages, preparing the foundations by reversing some historical management decisions such as underground drainage pipes and forestry commission spruce plantations.
